Living on Donations

A relative of mine works as pediatrician in a public Children hospital , one  of the main and famous public hospitals in Cairo which I would rather not to say its name from near or far.

My relative has told us that the hospital’s budget , the real budget to provide the service they want really present to the public is LE 14 Million where as the government gives them only LE 2 Million. The hospital actually depends on donations which of course does not reach to that multi-million budget , they want donations , lots of donations to operate !!

I do not have doubt that if there is no corruption in the public sector , if there is accurate and efficient allocation of  resources in this country , this public hospital may have surplus more than LE 14 Million.

You know if the semi-fully equipped hospital in Cairo needs LE 14 million , how much unequipped public Children hospital outside Cairo needs to serve millions of children as it should !!??

The problem they are facing in fundraising is the mistrust of people in public institution , people do not want to donate for fear that the money would be stolen and would not go to those who really need it.

Back to the LE 14 Million , I believe this sum of money is nothing compared to the State real sources like Suez Canal and our exports from gas and oil

  1. @Z, honestly Egypt public services should be way better for a long time now with all the money coming from Tourism, Gas and Suez Canal even before the global recession but becoz of the corruption in the regime this money all gone and disappear like a dust! Compared between Israel and Egypt, Israel is way more developed and progressing fast with the money they got from USA! and as we know Egypt received the same aid from USA too but where is the money gone? This regime got to go now is already 29 yrs and people should say enough is enough!!!! Egypt need new President who loves his people and country more than himself!!!
