Media Crackdown Follow up : Another Escalation

This week the Egyptian regime has escalated its media crackdown in to another level from revoking licenses for TV satellite uplinks , banning TV personalities from entering Egypt and warning government officials from speaking to the media !!

The Egyptian regime has decided to revoke the license for TV satellite uplinks where the service providers and and TV channels should reapply for permits again. Already last month we know about the decision which Al Jazeera became its first victims.

According to this decision there will be no air coverage of any event in Egypt except after the approval of the regime and for sure this approval means knowing the guests and the topic of the segment.

I do not work in TV production but is  not the time that we use Skype for TV broadcast , I saw it being used in Oprah all the time !!??

Last week Mohamed Karishan , the famous Tunisian Al Jazeera host was banned from entering Egypt as he was coming to record an interview with Heikal , I do not know if the regime feared that old Heikal would tackle issues in Egypt especially and the elections are weeks away or what. There is no excuse for banning Mohamed Karishan at all.

Today we found minister of transportation Alaa Fahmi has issued his orders to the heads of the sectors and authorities following the ministry banning any contact with the media , the media can contact the information center that follows the ministry  only!!

I wonder what will happen next week !!??
